New Post for February.
Well this week has started off great because we do not have school on Tuesday for president's day and it gives me a little more time to work on my flip book for my After Effects class. I also will have more time to write my paper for the Learned Owl Website I am redesign for Web Design. This project has been a lot of fun to create a more functional website but the hardest part is trying to create great rollovers for a functional website. Also I have been investigating Adobe Fireworks to make rollovers without as many sub-pictures included in the folders that take up space. I have also been trying to plan a trip to the Akron Art Museum to go see the pattern exhibit they have going on. I like the artist Murakami and Kehind Wiley and I would enjoy seeing their work in person again. Last time I saw Murakami was in Brooklyn and I have not seen Wiley's work since I was in D.C. two years ago. Well that is all I have to write for this week. Oh wait I hope Howard Stern goes to American Idle because that would be hilarious. I do not watch the show now but I would if he came on!

Here is a new post for a new week.
Today is a new week. I am working on the Learned Owl's website for our first project. I am researching other book stores that the Learned Owl competes with to understand why people would use their website instead of the Learned Owl. The first thing I realized the Learned Owl website is missing is mass pictures of books for sale on their homepage. Websites for businesses like Borders Books and Barnes and Noble have pictures of books for sale right away on their website to get customers interested in the product they are shopping for. The Learned Owl's homepage has text and text links of book news which does not grab a person's attention in to getting them to shop at their website. These are the questions I am asking myself when redesigning the Learned Owl's website to try and make it a better and more functional website and to be able to compete with bigger book chains. Well I need to go back to working on the design of their new website and staying warm from all the snow outside.

Another Blog!
Today has been one week since I heard the visiting artist, Camille Utterback lecture to our class. Utterback a visual artist who uses computers instead of canvases to create wonderful works of art that people can interact with. I really enjoyed her lecture, she explained how she went ahead and started one of her works of art. It was also fascinating to see what she went to school for since she said she had such an interest in Biology, I was surprised to see her not go to school for that particular subject. But I am glad she did not because she creates great pieces, such as Text rain that allows the viewer to hold up letters with parts of their body. Art is great but when you bring to the next level to interact with it makes it even more personable and intriguing. One thing I would like to see Utterback explore is using the technology she created with her art and applying it to a video game, like Super Mario Brothers or Frogger. Last week was also interesting because we watched some of Anthony Samangy's independent movies, which were AWESOME! Other than that do not start a flight club in your class like the teacher in queens who started one with his 4th graders. Not a good idea. Wait until they are a little older. Here is a link to that site. Peace ! http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/teacher_was_kids_brawl_monitor_da_5eh6SUnTSM2Igj8gbSzCJP

3rd Blog of the Semester.
This week has started off great, I sold a painting over the weekend to one of my friends. I also worked on the homework for webpage design. I was given the Manidoo website to redesign and there was not enough information about the site to really redesign a working site because I had no idea what the point of the site was about. All I could do was make the site more functional for the person using it. I cleaned up the navigation and helped out the site with a better layout. With the working website they cram a lot of unneeded information and blogs all on the same page, they could have spread this to multiple pages so the person would not have to continue to scroll on and on and on.... Well the third week is about to start and this project is due tuesday, I hope everyone likes it.

Another post
Here is another post. I just read an article in the New York Times art section called, "A Guided Tour in the Palm of Your Hand."http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/15/arts/design/15design.html?ref=design
The Cooper-Hewitt National design Museum has an application that lets the viewer see art work and objects in the palm of their hands. I find this to be a great innovative idea because it lets more people around the world see art and design and could potentially get more people to be patrons of the museum. With technology now it allows anyone to see or experience something they would not be able to because they might live in a different location or are broke college students. Well I have nothing more to write about, check out the link. Also Artie Lange is still in the hospital after he stabbed himself nine times over winter break. Artie Lange, known as Howard Stern's sidekick or the Coke Snorting Pig on Mad TV season one. I hope Artie will return to the Howard Stern show because his humor is greatly missed.

Second post of the semester.
Here is my second post of the semester. First off I would like to say is Dennis Hopper is in the hospital with prostate cancer. I hope the star of Easy Rider, True Romance, and Land of the Dead pulls it through. Other then that we had yesterday off for Martin Luther King day so I came up with ideas for my flash slide show and reacquainted myself with Adobe Dreamweaver. I have not seen any new websites worth mentioning but when I do I will definitely post it on my blog. Are personal websites are due Thursday and I have already posted mine from the previous semester. Sooner then later I would like to recreate a new personal webpage but the one I have now is sufficient enough. Time is a big factor. Well I hope you enjoyed this blog, I need to get back to work because class is about to start.

New Post for a new semester.
Today is January 12th and I jut started my last semester at the University of Akron. I just had Web Design 2 for the second time and I really want to learn more about CSS, HTML, rollovers using DreamWeaver and how to organize my projects. Taking Web 2 again will be great because I am familiar with the subject matter and there are so many things to learn that I believe there should be a minor in Web Page design at the University of Akron. Other then that it is my first day back at the University of Akron Myers school of art and I can not wait to learn Flash, and After Affects. Also a great website I saw is called, www.primaryflight.com, a site dedicated to new artists. The site shows pictures of their work, blogs, and videos. Some artists include Shepard Farey and Ron English. This is a great site to see some creative talent. Also in New York City this week the improv group, Improv Everywhere scheduled a mass group of people to forget their pants and to ride the subway in their underwear. Only in New York do they get to have fun with their commute to work. Peace out!
