My blog before finals and graduation

Here it is, my final blog for Web Design 2. I have been stressed out this week trying to get every project done for class and finals. I have been working hard on my title sequence for the After Effects class and my Operation board game for Flash. My Ipod application is almost done I just have a couple of more tweaks to do before I turn it in during finals week. I also went to the Polish Poster lecture in the Auditorium yesterday but I was late and there was barely anyone in there that they noticed me come in. I was surprised that there was not more kids there because it was one of our fellow students giving the lecture about such artists as Stasys Eidrigevicius. I assume that most kids were busy with finals and looking for jobs. Katherine the person who gave the lecture did a good job. Another thing is that I start my internship at Hitchcock Fleming and Associates in May and I am nervous. I hope that the University of Akron has prepared me enough to do a great job there. Well I have nothing more to write about and I have a lot to do still for finals. All I do know is I can not wait for May 8th because I will be walking at EJ Thomas for graduation.

Here is a blog!

Here is a blog, a blog about this that and the other. I am working diligently on and After Effects homework trying to get everything to work out perfectly. I can't wait for the semester to be over so I can graduate. I have put in a lot of work this semester but I would really like to have a couple more weeks to work on the final flash assignment. I feel like we did not get enough time and that is really lame. I also never got a chance to go to the Akron Art Museum to see the pattern exhibit. I have been too busy and trying to get up there to go has been a struggle. This summer I will go. Well I have nothing more to write about the semester except... Yeah I have nothing more to write about.

A blog for a Tuesday in April

Today is Tuesday and we are going to be given the assignment to design an Apple Ipod Application. I created one last semester and really enjoyed the assignment and this semester I hope to make an even better application. This time around I want to create an application like Google Maps but instead it only finds artwork in areas you search for. There will be a map with a search text box and if you type in the words, "Akron Museum's," it will pull up a map with multiple icons of art museums and galleries. The person then can click the icon on the map and it will pull up information about that particular museum and besides the information it will also have pictures of the museum that the person clicked on. I am excited to get started on this project and to have the semester come to an end. Well I have nothing more to write about today so I am going to go back to working on this project and kicking ass and chewing bubble gum.

3 weeks until finals!

Here is a blog three weeks before finals. Today in class we are about to present our consumer websites to the class, I hope everyone enjoys viewing my website. I worked hard on the website trying to get everything in order but you never know with art and design. Art and design is one of those grey areas where people will either love it or hate it because art is subjective and objective. Usually you do not find things to be in both of these categories. To change the subject I have not been to the Akron art museum yet to seen the Pattern ID show, I always forget to go to the museum to see the exhibit because all I can think about is graduating and getting a J-O-B.

A new Post about nothing like Sienfeld.

Here is my post, another post. I am running out of topics to write about for class so todays blog I am just going to wing it. Yesterday I watched a pretty good movie in my Arabic Through Culture class called the Le Grand Voyage. A movie about a man and his son traveling to Mecca so his father can complete his pilgrimage to the holy land. The movie came out in 2004 and really shows the differences in generations with religion and mentality. Yesterday I also saw a crazy accident going home on route 8 North. The car was demolished and I found out today that the man passed away. From looking at the accident I am not surprised that the man passed away because of how destroyed the car was. I have also been working hard in school because in 5 weeks I will graduate. It is annoying though because I have to wait on the University to put my minor in the computer so I keep reading errors that I am not graduating but I met with my advisor and everything is A ok. Well I have really nothing else to write about except I am hungry and I can not wait for this semester to be over because I am excited to start my internship in May. Well Odious.

Here is a new blog back from spring break!

Here is my new blog for the week. I have been sick all spring break so it was not enjoyable. I slept most of the time and when I was awake I was sitting on the toilet in agony. Today I am feeling a little better, I am starting to get my appetite back and a little more energy. Other than that I missed my morning class because the medication they gave me made me extremely tired but I made it to my second class. I really have nothing more to write about because I am sick but I did notice that the beginning intro to the show the "View" has a pretty cool type sequence, usually I do not watch that show but it happened to be on. Also Universal Health Care passed in the United States. I am not sure how this is going to affect the United States in the long run but we will have to wait and see. Well I have nothing more to write about and I am getting light headed. Maybe next week my blogs will make a little more sense then they do now!?

New blog before spring break.

Today is March 9th and we just learned about spry's in Dream Weaver. I find spry's to be a lot more complicated to use rather than going into fireworks and creating a drop down menu there. The only bad part about creating it there is all of the sub images fireworks can make if you keep exporting the image into Dream Weaver to just get it right and if you do not bring the quality down. Spry's are interesting but the css that is created from creating a drop down menu is ridiculous. You have to go through each one just to find background color, padding, positioning, etc. I can understand how affective using a spry is but I am a little stubborn and like using Fireworks for rollovers and drop down menus. Other than that I am working on my shopping page for class, I am having a good time making a website that is for shopping for video games. The fake website is called "Games," as the web-site's name applies it is a website about video games. I am using Fireworks for the rollovers but I am not going overboard creating the whole web-site's context in there. I created rollovers in there and then I would add tables to add information. Well I have nothing else really to right about except I can not wait for spring break. I do not think I am going anywhere but I am going to enjoy myself and drink Miller Highlife! As Tony Soprano says "GABA-GOO!"

new Post for March 1st.

Today is March 1st, before I know it I will already have graduated. This week I got the new Juxtapoz magazine and there are some articles on artists. One is about the Gentle Giant studios, they are a studio agency that does special effect work on movies like Star Wars. They make digital and tangible props for movies that are really impressive. Here is a link to their website -
http://www.gentlegiantstudios.com/
Other than that this weekend was great, I worked on my After Effects homework of the skeleton getting hit by the car. We did not have any homework in web design because we turned in our projects last Thursday. Some projects were better than others but all around I think the class did a good job and there was a lot of potential in the class room for good web designers. I can not wait to start working in Dream Weaver again and actually getting our webpages up and running. I am also looking forward to making another Iphone application design like we did last semester, that was a great project and I had fun designing it. Well hopefully the UPS truck will arrive soon! Until next week!

Post before the Learned Owl Website is Due for Class

Here is my post before my redesign of the Learned Owl's website is due. It is due this thursday so I have been getting my power point presentation ready for class. It really frustrates me using Power Point sometimes because their presets for type fonts and background designs are hard to work with. I wanted to create a visually interesting background to compliment the redesign of the Learned Owl's website but I could not get any of the designs to compliment the design of the website. It was very frustrating! I also wanted to use a pre-made font to use as a header for the power point but I do not like the ones they have so I just kept it a basic black. Also right now at this very moment in time I am craving some Burger King and a 40 of High Life. Maybe a Rodeo Burger will be put on my things to do list.
Other then that I have put a lot of time in effort in the redesign of this website so I am hoping for a good grade and some positive feedback of the new design. I am also ready to start using Dream Weaver again to get some more experience and to finally figure out how to make the best rollovers using Fireworks and not having it create more picture than needed. Also I am ready for the sun to be shining in the sky. Well I have nothing more to write about, "Same bat time on the same bat channel!"

New Post for February.

Well this week has started off great because we do not have school on Tuesday for president's day and it gives me a little more time to work on my flip book for my After Effects class. I also will have more time to write my paper for the Learned Owl Website I am redesign for Web Design. This project has been a lot of fun to create a more functional website but the hardest part is trying to create great rollovers for a functional website. Also I have been investigating Adobe Fireworks to make rollovers without as many sub-pictures included in the folders that take up space. I have also been trying to plan a trip to the Akron Art Museum to go see the pattern exhibit they have going on. I like the artist Murakami and Kehind Wiley and I would enjoy seeing their work in person again. Last time I saw Murakami was in Brooklyn and I have not seen Wiley's work since I was in D.C. two years ago. Well that is all I have to write for this week. Oh wait I hope Howard Stern goes to American Idle because that would be hilarious. I do not watch the show now but I would if he came on!

Here is a new post for a new week.

Today is a new week. I am working on the Learned Owl's website for our first project. I am researching other book stores that the Learned Owl competes with to understand why people would use their website instead of the Learned Owl. The first thing I realized the Learned Owl website is missing is mass pictures of books for sale on their homepage. Websites for businesses like Borders Books and Barnes and Noble have pictures of books for sale right away on their website to get customers interested in the product they are shopping for. The Learned Owl's homepage has text and text links of book news which does not grab a person's attention in to getting them to shop at their website. These are the questions I am asking myself when redesigning the Learned Owl's website to try and make it a better and more functional website and to be able to compete with bigger book chains. Well I need to go back to working on the design of their new website and staying warm from all the snow outside.

Another Blog!

Today has been one week since I heard the visiting artist, Camille Utterback lecture to our class. Utterback a visual artist who uses computers instead of canvases to create wonderful works of art that people can interact with. I really enjoyed her lecture, she explained how she went ahead and started one of her works of art. It was also fascinating to see what she went to school for since she said she had such an interest in Biology, I was surprised to see her not go to school for that particular subject. But I am glad she did not because she creates great pieces, such as Text rain that allows the viewer to hold up letters with parts of their body. Art is great but when you bring to the next level to interact with it makes it even more personable and intriguing. One thing I would like to see Utterback explore is using the technology she created with her art and applying it to a video game, like Super Mario Brothers or Frogger. Last week was also interesting because we watched some of Anthony Samangy's independent movies, which were AWESOME! Other than that do not start a flight club in your class like the teacher in queens who started one with his 4th graders. Not a good idea. Wait until they are a little older. Here is a link to that site. Peace ! http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/teacher_was_kids_brawl_monitor_da_5eh6SUnTSM2Igj8gbSzCJP

3rd Blog of the Semester.

This week has started off great, I sold a painting over the weekend to one of my friends. I also worked on the homework for webpage design. I was given the Manidoo website to redesign and there was not enough information about the site to really redesign a working site because I had no idea what the point of the site was about. All I could do was make the site more functional for the person using it. I cleaned up the navigation and helped out the site with a better layout. With the working website they cram a lot of unneeded information and blogs all on the same page, they could have spread this to multiple pages so the person would not have to continue to scroll on and on and on.... Well the third week is about to start and this project is due tuesday, I hope everyone likes it.

Another post

Here is another post. I just read an article in the New York Times art section called, "A Guided Tour in the Palm of Your Hand."http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/15/arts/design/15design.html?ref=design
The Cooper-Hewitt National design Museum has an application that lets the viewer see art work and objects in the palm of their hands. I find this to be a great innovative idea because it lets more people around the world see art and design and could potentially get more people to be patrons of the museum. With technology now it allows anyone to see or experience something they would not be able to because they might live in a different location or are broke college students. Well I have nothing more to write about, check out the link. Also Artie Lange is still in the hospital after he stabbed himself nine times over winter break. Artie Lange, known as Howard Stern's sidekick or the Coke Snorting Pig on Mad TV season one. I hope Artie will return to the Howard Stern show because his humor is greatly missed.

Second post of the semester.

Here is my second post of the semester. First off I would like to say is Dennis Hopper is in the hospital with prostate cancer. I hope the star of Easy Rider, True Romance, and Land of the Dead pulls it through. Other then that we had yesterday off for Martin Luther King day so I came up with ideas for my flash slide show and reacquainted myself with Adobe Dreamweaver. I have not seen any new websites worth mentioning but when I do I will definitely post it on my blog. Are personal websites are due Thursday and I have already posted mine from the previous semester. Sooner then later I would like to recreate a new personal webpage but the one I have now is sufficient enough. Time is a big factor. Well I hope you enjoyed this blog, I need to get back to work because class is about to start.

New Post for a new semester.

Today is January 12th and I jut started my last semester at the University of Akron. I just had Web Design 2 for the second time and I really want to learn more about CSS, HTML, rollovers using DreamWeaver and how to organize my projects. Taking Web 2 again will be great because I am familiar with the subject matter and there are so many things to learn that I believe there should be a minor in Web Page design at the University of Akron. Other then that it is my first day back at the University of Akron Myers school of art and I can not wait to learn Flash, and After Affects. Also a great website I saw is called, www.primaryflight.com, a site dedicated to new artists. The site shows pictures of their work, blogs, and videos. Some artists include Shepard Farey and Ron English. This is a great site to see some creative talent. Also in New York City this week the improv group, Improv Everywhere scheduled a mass group of people to forget their pants and to ride the subway in their underwear. Only in New York do they get to have fun with their commute to work. Peace out!
